Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you serve?
Northern Ozaukee County. I also do pet sitting for cats and dogs living in the bordering areas of eastern Washington County in WI and southern Sheboygan County, WI.
Are you insured and bonded?
Yes, as a reputable professional, I have a business license which allows me to provide my pet sitting and pet care services. I also have insurance coverage to protect you and provide recourse should something go wrong.
What kind of pets do you care for?
Big dogs, little dogs, outgoing or shy, young dogs and old dogs of all shapes and size. Same goes for cats! Also, small-cage animals like bunnies, rabbits, gerbils, and hamsters, along with reptiles, horses, chickens, geese, ducks, goats, and other small farm animals. If you feed the wild birds or squirrels that live in your yard, I am happy to feed those little critters too.
Stacie, can you care for my pets in your home?
I believe critters fare best at home, so I do not offer boarding services. I am a full-service pet sitter, guaranteed to show up because your beloved fur baby depends on me.
Will you come to my home more than three visits a day if needed?
Absolutely, we will work together to set up a schedule that will work best for your pets.
Can I schedule the times you come to my home and visit my pets?
The goal of My Critter Companion is to keep to your pet’s regular routine. We will work together on a schedule that best fits your pet’s needs.
What if there is an emergency with my pet?
I will call you immediately. If I can’t reach you, I am 100% comfortable, competent, and equipped to transport your pet to the veterinarian safely. If necessary, I will make educated, compassionate, and life-focused decisions for your pet’s health. But don’t worry, you and I will outline an emergency situation during your free consultation. At that time, you’ll complete a veterinary release form which includes your wishes in pet emergencies, and that you agree to reimburse me for veterinary bills, prescriptions, any extra care provided by me, or other expenses that may be incurred during an emergency. There is also a space to describe your cat or dog’s chipping information if they are pet chipped.
What does my pet need, as far as shots, leashes, etc.?
Pets must have proof of current rabies vaccination, ID tags for dogs (good idea for cats as well), leash, properly fitting collar, toys, chew sticks, treats, available fresh water, plenty of food (in case you are deterred during your return home), bowls, litter, pooper-scooper or bags, and a place outside of the animals main living area to dispose of waste.
I’ve always taken my pets to a kennel when on vacation. What are the advantages of using a professional pet sitter instead?
Animals like their regular routine; familiar sights, sounds, and toys are very comforting to animals when their human parents are not around. My job is to be there for your pets when you can’t be, specifically to keep to their regular routine of exercise, play, and diet. I make sure there is little to no disruption to their routine. And of course, your pets are lavished with lots of love and attention! Also, using a professional pet sitter gives you peace of mind that your pet is being cared for and given one-on-one attention. No cages are confining them, no extra charges for exercise or medication administration, and most importantly, no risk of illness from other pets as there is at a border or kennel.
How far in advance do I need to make reservations for pet sitting?
Reservations should be made as far in advance as possible to ensure availability. A minimum of 48 hours is desirable, but should you have a shorter time frame, please call regarding availability. If I can take you on, we still need to meet in person to complete the free consultation process, including paperwork, if not previously completed.
What forms of payments do you take?
I currently accept cash, check and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). Payment is due prior to or at the time of service.
